Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and ALL the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
About St. Michael the Archangel
Saint Michael the Archangel is the leader of all angels and the protector of the Church. He led the fight against Satan and the fallen angels. Michael means "who is like God?" in Hebrew, reflecting his power and status. In the Bible, Michael is referenced in the Book of Daniel, Letter of Jude, and Book of Revelation, where he defeats Satan in the War in Heaven. He is associated with protection, deliverance, repentance, righteousness, and mercy. Michael has four main roles: to fight against Satan, to rescue the souls of the faithful from the power of the enemy, to be the champion of God's people, and to bring people from life into death. In art, Michael is often depicted as a winged warrior dressed in armor, carrying a sword or spear and shield. He is often shown battling a dragon or Satan in defense of God. Michael is celebrated liturgically on September 29 in the Catholic Church, called Michaelmas. It was traditionally a time of harvesting and accounting in medieval Europe under Michael's patronage. Saint Michael is the commander of the heavenly hosts and the victor over Satan and wickedness, defending God's people and leading them to salvation. He is a protector and fighter for faith.
