Prayer Before Communion
Lord, I now examine myself before I eat of the bread & drink of the cup. Help me to properly discern Thy body, for I do not want to eat & drink in an unworthy manner. Holy God, allow me to partake in this remembrance of Your Son without drinking judgment upon myself. Mighty God, I believe that by Your Son's death on the cross I was cleansed of all sin - past, present, and future - even though I am unworthy - for I have stained my body & soul. Immortal God, I am truly sorry for my sins. Help me, O Lord, to always grow in faith & obedience to Thy Word. Though I have not seen You as others have seen You - I believe in You. Cast me not out, Lord Jesus, that I may always come to You. I believe that You are the Bread of Life, which came down from heaven. I will not murmur as the unbelievers did. I believe in You Christ & I know I have everlasting life. I believe that the Bread I eat is not the manna of our dead fathers but rather That which comes gives everlasting life. Unlike the Jews who quarreled amongst themselves, I believe in Your Words; "Whosoever eats My Flesh & drinks My Blood has eternal life & I will raise him on the last day" (John 6:54) I also believe that by doing so, I abide in You Christ, and You in me. Unlike the disciples who deserted You, I am not offended by Your Words but rather cherish Them. I trust You, O Lord, and I am obedient without question to Thy command, for Thy Words are Spirit & Life. In the name of the Father, & the Son, & the Holy Spirit now and ever and unto ages of ages. AMEN
Prayer After Communion
Thank you Lord for allowing me to demonstrate my belief in Thy Word. Help me to always labor for Thy Food which endures to everlasting life. The Son of Man gives me this Food because of the seal God the Father has set on Him. Help me to always believe in You Christ because, as You said O Lord, That belief is the true work God wants us to pursue. Help me, Lord Jesus, to come to You always so that I may never hunger. Help me, Lord Jesus, to always believe in You so that I may never thirst. I believe that the will of the Father is that everyone who believes in the Son may have everlasting life & will be raised on the last day. Lord God, allow me to hear & learn from You so that I know to come to Your Son always. Lord, I believe that by eating Thy flesh & drinking Thy blood obediently as Thy ask, I abide in You Christ & You abide in me. In the name of the Father, & the Son, & the Holy Spirit now and ever and unto ages of ages. AMEN
