On August 1, 2008, T-Mobile USA, Inc. brought Tony Hawk, celebrities and the world's best action sports athletes together to celebrate the latest installment of the T-Mobile Sidekick family of devices -- the T-Mobile Sidekick LX Tony Hawk Edition. Hosted in Hollywood, celebrities such as Heidi Montag and Chris Evans mingled at the exclusive event amidst street art from the "Life is Beautiful" exhibit by Los Angeles graffiti provocateur Mr. Brainwash. The event was highlighted by a special live musical performance by multi-platinum recording artists Stone Temple Pilots, who took a break from their summer reunion tour to wow party-goers with a set chock-full of hits from the band's acclaimed catalog. The invite-only launch event brought to life the history of skateboarding in each room, transforming the artistic space into installations illustrating the early days of skateboarding in the 1950s to present day in skateboarding culture. Stars like Cheryl Burke and Aly and AJ were spotted checking out the classic moments throughout the sport's history, including landmark achievements in Tony Hawk's career.

Stone Temple Pilots then took the stage, having the audience rocking with a performance that got the A-list crowd singing along to their most memorable hits. A roster of up-and-coming DJ stars, including Devin Lucien, Adam12 and StoneRokk, spun the latest hits as Tila Tequila and Jamie Kennedy tried out the new video record, play and share features on the Sidekick LX Tony Hawk Edition. Matthew Perry and Kourtney Kardashian browsed through a fully-stocked skate shop featuring Quiksilver apparel and accessories and Birdhouse skate decks while outside, James Marsden, Rachel Hunter and Perez Hilton watched skaters including Tony Alva, Steve Olson, Christian Hosoi, and Alex Olson show off their tricks on a half-pipe to music spun by DJs Chad Muska and Scott Oster, who also hit the skate ramp.
