VoIP Directory: Find Official Documentation, Standards and Support - Yenra

Find official VoIP manuals, protocol standards, service terms and consumer guidance, then record the version and scope that answer your question.

An architectural library of reference cards with a telephone, magnifying lens and amber bookmark.
Choose a source by the question it can answer and verify its model, version and regional scope.

Use this VoIP directory to find the kind of evidence your task needs: an exact device manual, a protocol definition, a provider's service terms or a regulator's consumer guidance. The links lead to primary sources, with notes about what each can establish and what to check before applying it.

Resources were checked in October 2026. This is a documentation directory, not a ranking of phone-service companies. Keep the model, software version, country and question beside you as you follow a link.

Configure or support equipment

  • HP Poly Studio Desktop documentation explains the current management app, formerly Poly Lens Desktop. Owners and technicians should also consult the device and softphone support matrix; match the complete headset, adapter, operating-system and calling-app combination.
  • Grandstream WP816/WP826/WP836 administration guide provides model-family configuration and status information. Use the firmware notes to establish whether an option exists on your handset. Follow your provider's account profile and your organization's network policy.
  • Microchip line circuits distinguishes SLIC-only and combined SLIC/codec product families. This is a starting point for engineers looking for the exact part's datasheet, interface requirements and lifecycle information, rather than an end-user installation guide.

Understand protocols and architecture

  • RFC 3261: Session Initiation Protocol is a foundational SIP specification. Use it to understand session signaling and terminology. Check the RFC Editor's related updates and errata before treating the original 2002 document as a complete implementation requirement.
  • RFC 3550: RTP explains real-time media transport and its control protocol. It helps distinguish media delivery and reporting from call setup; it is a standards reference for technical readers.
  • CableLabs specifications has separate DOCSIS and PacketCable categories. Search by document designation and save its revision; the archive option helps when interpreting historical cable-voice equipment.
  • ITU's historical NGN overview explains separation of service functions from packet transport and references Y.2001. The page belongs to the 2009 policy-forum material and shows a 2008 update, so read its forward-looking language in that period's context.

Check service terms and consumer processes

  • FCC number-porting guidance is for United States consumers changing providers. Confirm eligibility and the receiving provider's actual process for your number; use the relevant national regulator outside the US.
  • Twilio port-in documentation is a provider-specific example of eligibility, authorization and transfer stages. The documented API is public beta with a defined US number scope. It is useful for developers working within those limits.
  • Twilio's service-level agreement directory identifies different covered products and functions. Contract reviewers should follow the agreement applicable to their order, rather than borrowing a commitment from a different service.
  • Twilio status provides provider incident information. Match the component, region and time to your own evidence; retain a support ticket for account-specific investigation.

Fictional documentation search

A technician needs to configure enterprise Wi-Fi on a WP826. They open the family administration guide, match its firmware information to the handset and find the EAP and certificate settings. They ask the wireless administrator for the approved profile before changing anything. The useful deliverable is the correct procedure plus the site's inputs, not simply a saved manual link.

When sources disagree, record both versions and the precise conflict. A current release note can explain a change missing from an older manual. A standard describes protocol behavior while a product manual describes that implementation. Escalate an unresolved mismatch with the relevant section, device version and observed result.

Keep a source record

Download a source-selection record with space for the question, evidence, scope and follow-up. For guided reading first, use the service behind the phone or how VoIP works. Recheck bookmarked documentation before the next configuration change.
