Science

Engineers, scientists and technicians now can take measurements with no programming required and get up and running quickly starting at $995 -- an up to 50 percent price reduction -- with a special offer from National Instruments. NI continues its commitment to lowering the cost of measurements by offering NI VI Logger configuration-based measurement software, normally priced at $995, for free with full-featured E Series data acquisition products until March 31, 2004.

The combination of NI data acquisition hardware and data logging software delivers a low-cost measurement solution for a wide range of temperature, strain, pressure, voltage and portable measurements. VI Logger is a menu-driven data logging software package that requires no programming, offering an easy first step to taking measurements with a PC. With VI Logger dialog windows and step-by-step guides, PC users can stream data to PC memory, graph and display trends and control digital and serial lines on alarm conditions. When users need to upgrade their applications, they can take advantage of the 22 LabVIEW graphical programming environment functions that come with VI Logger. With these functions, users can import data logging tasks and automate applications built with VI Logger.

When users combine VI Logger with NI E Series data acquisition devices, they can create accurate, reliable measurement systems for a wide variety of desktop, portable and networked applications. The devices ensure accuracy with quality hardware design, provide seamless software integration and come with award-winning NI support and service. E Series devices deliver analog I/O, digital I/O and counter/timer functions with RTSI bus or PXI trigger bus for multidevice synchronization. The E Series product line includes 24 models of data acquisition hardware for PCI, PXI, CompactPCI, USB and FireWire. All NI E Series devices come with NI-DAQ driver software, which includes a configuration utility that simplifies device setup and use, as well as with a calibration certificate that ensures that the device performs at the specified accuracy.

National Instruments is a technology pioneer and leader in virtual instrumentation -- a revolutionary concept that has changed the way engineers and scientists approach measurement and automation. Leveraging the PC and its related technologies, virtual instrumentation increases productivity and lowers costs for customers worldwide through easy-to-integrate software, such as the NI LabVIEW graphical development environment, and modular hardware, such as PXI modules for data acquisition, instrument control and machine vision.
