Outback Jack puts a group of pampered city women to the test as they vie for the affections of their rugged leading man Vadim Dale. In episode 4, which premieres Tuesday, July 13 at 9 p.m., his camel is sick, so Vadim travels on foot leading the girls instead of riding.
Things are getting a little wild behind the scenes of TBS's new reality series Outback Jack, airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). Outback Jack puts a group of pampered city women to the test as they vie for the affections of their rugged leading man. The series, hosted by JD Roberto, combines fish-out-of-water comedy with romantic adventure, making for plenty of fun twists and turns.
Here are just a few of the interesting things happening when the cameras aren't rolling:
Australia's rainy season left three of Outback Jack's six camps flooded until just one week before production started.
The girls had no hot water for their showers at camp. The first time they had a chance to shower in hot water was their first night in Perth, three weeks into production. The water for their camp showers was pumped directly from nearby natural sources and could not be heated.
On their first night at camp, Jack's friends treated the girls to a local feast. They were reluctant at first to try crocodile burgers and kangaroo kabobs, but they were so hungry, they finally dug in.
It took one full-time employee to deal with the girls' luggage throughout production.
Originally at the end of episode 2 and the beginning of episode 3, Jack was going to drive the girls in a large jeep. The production team decided on that course of action after concerns were raised that the girls would not want to drive their own vehicles, especially since they were stick shifts. Once production got under way, however, the team realized the girls were much more capable and gung-ho than they thought. So the production team tracked down several more "bull catchers" for the girls to drive.
The tree house in episode 2 took four days to build.
Jack literally protected the girls from the dangers of the Outback. The girls may not have realized it at the time (because Jack did not want to alarm them), but he would always put his cot between the water and the girls' cots in case a croc decided to come out of the water in the middle of the night. In the area where filming took place, there had been a recent story of a croc pulling a visitor's tent into the water. Jack also intercepted several poisonous snakes, and with a security guard, chased off several hungry dingoes in the middle of the night. To arrive at the second camp, the group had to cross a river. That night, Jack and Maria saw several crocodile eyes shining right in the area they crossed just hours before.
Because one of the camels was sick, Jack travels on foot leading the girls in episode 4.
Before shooting the end of episode 5, Jack changed his mind at the last minute regarding whom to eliminate. Jack informed the production that he changed his mind from one girl to another. The girl he was originally going to eliminate still does not know how close she came to leaving in episode 5.
TBS parachuted twelve beautiful pampered women into the rugged Australian wilderness in the premiere episode of the new reality series Outback Jack that began on June 22. For the next eight weeks, this series from Nash Entertainment is putting the women to the test as they vie for the affections of their rugged leading man. Outback Jack, hosted by JD Roberto, combines fish-out-of-water comedy with romance and adventure, making for plenty of unexpected twists and turns.
The premiere episode of Outback Jack opened with an introduction to the twelve female contestants at a Los Angeles mansion. The girls thought they were to stay at this beautiful home, but were instead whisked away to Australia, unaware of what lies in store. At the end of their flight, they were told the premise of the show and that they will have to skydive in order to meet the Australian hunk, Jack (athlete-outdoorsman Vadim Dale), whose admiration they are battling to receive.
After each woman decided if she would jump or not, those who chose to take the plunge were sent out the door of the plane into the middle of one of the most rugged terrains on the planet. It is there that they meet Jack and follow him back to the station that will serve as home base. Following a meet-and-greet at dinner, Jack has to decide which contestants to eliminate. Only eight continued for the next leg of the adventure.
Among the many surprises that came up in the premiere episode is an unexpected twist that jeopardizes the fate of one of the women.
