ExxonMobil Chemical is installing two new metallization lines at its oriented polypropylene (OPP) films plant in Brindisi, Italy. The investment in metallization reinforces the company's commitment to the OPP films business through the provision of an improved and steady supply of quality metallized films to the flexible packaging industry. The first line is set to start producing commercially in the first quarter of 2005, with the second line due to start up a few months later.
"The new metallizers will give us much more flexibility and responsiveness to growing market demand," says Carlo Ranucci of ExxonMobil. "Production from the two lines, together with that from ExxonMobil's supply network across Europe and North America, will effectively ensure that supply of metallized films is capable of meeting customers' expectations both today and in the future."
The new vacuum metallizer lines provide excellent processing capability with the ability to metallize a range of gauges between twelve and fifty microns at high speeds, providing outstanding barrier properties.
"These metallizers will increase our capacity," says Christian Candoni of ExxonMobil. "We aim to reduce lead-times and fluctuations in supply and consistently offer our customers the highest quality metallized films."
