In a lavish banquet at Chicago's Marriott Hotel, the Summer and Casual Furniture Manufacturer's Association announced the winners of the 2000 Apollo Awards. Capturing the best single store award was Hoigaard's of Minneapolis, Minn. Paddock Pools and Spas of Scottsdale, Arizona won in the multi-store division, and Kitchen and Patio Furniture Gallery of Calgary, Alberta, Canada won the title for best international store.
Regarded as the highest honor in the casual furnishings industry, including such furnishings as cast aluminum patio furniture, the Apollo Awards pay tribute to retailers whose outstanding accomplishments and commitment to customer service distinguished them from others. Winners are selected from hundreds of retailers across the country and around the world.
"The Apollo Awards have come to mean so much to the industry," said Joe Logan, executive director of the SCFMA. "It's a chance for the manufacturers to really show their appreciation for those stores who go that extra mile to be the best."
Founded over 100 years ago, Hoigaard's maintains 50,000 square feet of summer and winter furniture space. Three generations of Hoigaards and executive vice president Brian O'Brien have kept this business a leader in the casual furnishings industry. Hoigaard's is owned by Conrad J. Hoigaard.
Founded over 40 years ago, Paddock Pools and Spas can be found in 11 locations including Phoenix, Arizizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. With over 500 employees, Paddock Pools and Spas offers casual furniture, barbecues, pools and spas, as well as other outdoor accessories. Paddock Pools and Spas is owned by David, Lewis and Edward Ghiz.
Over 18,000 square feet of showroom space make up Kitchen and Patio Furniture Gallery of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1987, this store offers top-notch selection and customer service. Kitchen and Patio Furniture Gallery is owned by Ken and Bernice Toon.
