Thanks to the recent wireless number portability act, the nation's nearly 150-million wireless consumers can now switch to another carrier without ditching their old phone number. The new cell phone rule promises benefits like lower prices, innovative new services and higher quality making this a great time for consumers to upgrade their cell phones.
Subscribers will be able to switch their home and business phone numbers to wireless and vice versa and still keep their phone number. There is one hitch -- people switching carriers will also need to buy new cell phones and with the holiday season right around the corner, new phones are likely to be at the top of everyone's lists.
