Burger King Corporation has launched a series of television and radio advertisements starring the legendary BB King. The ads, which will air nationwide Sunday, spotlight the company's newest menu additions -- the KING SUPREME sandwich and EGG'WICH Muffin -- by conveying that BURGER KING offers a variety of great-tasting sandwiches for mealtimes throughout the day.
"BB King is a BURGER KING customer favorite," said Craig Braasch, vice president, Global Advertising & Promotions. This past fall, BURGER KING customers voted him "Living Legend" from among a list of music sensations, including Aretha Franklin and James Brown. "When we developed these new sandwiches, we asked him to star in the commercials to lend his musical talent and to acknowledge our customers' tastes not only in food but also in music."
The new commercials, which will air on network and cable television as well as radio, focus on the mealtimes during which consumers can enjoy the KING SUPREME and EGG'WICH sandwiches -- "morning and evening." The two radio spots, :30 and :60 in length, feature BB King talking and singing about the new sandwiches. For the television spots, there is a :30 spot that features both sandwiches and then two :15 spots that feature each sandwich individually. BB King sits on the cusp of a crescent moon and sings "BK and BB let you HAVE IT YOUR WAY." He is then capped with a graphic of a BURGER KING crown. Burger King Corporation worked with McCaffery Ratner Gottlieb & Lane Inc. to create and produce these spots.
The KING SUPREME has 37% more meat (4.4-oz. vs. 3.2-oz) and less bread than the competitor's sandwich and features the popular taste of flame-broiling. With two flame-broiled patties covered with a supreme sauce, which is designed to enhance the flame-broiled taste of the burgers, the KING SUPREME is topped with a slice of melted cheese, crisp shredded lettuce, onions and sliced pickles on a sesame seed bun. The EGG'WICH Muffin Sandwich includes an English muffin, egg, a slice of Canadian-style bacon and melted American cheese. It is priced at $0.99 for a limited time only at participating restaurants during breakfast hours.
