To combat the proliferation of unsolicited email and the growing threat of malicious code that is costing businesses around the globe tens of billion of dollars in lost productivity, BorderWare Technologies, The Security Appliances Company, today announced MXtreme Mail Firewall Appliance 3.0.
MXtreme Mail Firewall Appliance 3.0 delivers the most comprehensive solution for protecting email systems from spam, viruses, Trojans and worms, malformed messages, and denial-of-service attacks, while enabling overall email server functionality, sophisticated routing and delivery, and secure remote access.
BorderWare's third generation email security appliance features the following key enhancements:
- Anti-Spam Powered by Brightmail - In addition to its effective and automated built-in spam-fighting technologies, MXtreme now provides the option to use the Brightmail Anti-Spam 5.0 enterprise level solution. Brightmail is the anti-spam market leader, currently protecting over 1000 enterprise and ISP customers with over 275 million email users worldwide. The Brightmail option in MXtreme automatically delivers the most effective spam-fighting technology with an accuracy rate of only 1 in 1,000,000 false positives, and requires no on-going IT administration.
- Integrated Anti-Virus from Kaspersky Labs - MXtreme 3.0 now includes Kaspersky anti-virus, one of the industry's leading solutions for protecting against all kinds of malicious code. Kaspersky's award-winning technology is completely integrated in MXtreme 3.0 delivering total, real-time virus protection with automatic updates at the network perimeter, where viruses typically enter. Each model of the MXtreme includes unlimited user licensing, adding to the defense-in-depth strategy that complements anti-virus solutions at the desktop.
- Graphical Detailed Systems Management Reports - MXtreme 3.0 now provides a series of graphical and customizable system reports that track and monitor mail flow, spam, viruses, system health and other usage. The reporting system provides IT departments with important metrics and analysis of their investment in email security.
- Government Grade Security
At the heart of MXtreme's security technology is S-Core, a hardened operating system integral to the Common Criteria EAL4+ (with EAL5 vulnerability analysis) certification attained by the BorderWare's firewall server. The Common Criteria is a set of international standards subscribed to by 16 nations (including the U.S.) that grades products on their security and reliability, as well as the vendor's development and support processes for ensuring quick responses to problems. EAL4+ is the highest grade achieved by a firewall product, a rating recommended by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
"Any company currently assessing the state of their email infrastructure because of such threats as spam and viruses, should be looking at a comprehensive solution," said John Alsop, President and CEO, BorderWare. "Whether you're looking to reduce overall security risks or lower IT administration costs and increase end user productivity and Quality of Service, MXtreme 3.0 easily delivers on all fronts."
