A worthwhile resort stay starts with a match between the place and the days you want to spend there. Choose your essential experiences first, then compare the exact room, access, services and complete price. A famous name or attractive pool photograph leaves much of that decision unanswered.
Describe a good day before choosing a resort
Write down three things that would make the stay successful: perhaps walking straight to the beach, spending an afternoon at the spa and eating dinner on-site. Add any requirements that determine whether the trip works at all, such as a step-free route, adjoining rooms or a place for a child to nap. Check these before assigning value to optional extras.
A resort with extensive grounds may suit a holiday spent mostly on the property. A smaller beachfront hotel beside local restaurants may suit people who want to walk out each evening. Compare the time and effort involved in your actual day: the route from room to beach, the distance to breakfast and the journey back after an outing.
Follow the property through a name change
Remington’s June 2007 Gallery announcement, distributed by PRNewswire, presented a planned resort collection built around art and personalized service, with One Ocean in Atlantic Beach as its first property. Those development ambitions belong to that period.
The same beachfront address, 1 Ocean Boulevard, now operates as Dune House Hotel & Spa. The hotel’s transformation account identifies the sequence from Sea Turtle Inn to One Ocean to Dune House, which opened under its new name on March 3, 2026. Use the address and current official booking site to connect the names; older reviews may describe a different room design or service arrangement.
As checked October 3, 2026, the transformation page lists refreshed rooms, Coastal Farmer and Cafe Dune as open, while the spa and some other venues remain described as forthcoming. Its FAQ also describes spa policies. That combination warrants a direct opening-date check before booking a spa-centered break. Ask about construction hours, affected areas and an alternative if a promised facility is delayed.

At Dune House, the official room descriptions distinguish a Surf King without a balcony from an Oceanfront Corner King with a wraparound balcony, and a one-bedroom suite with a separate living area. These are useful differences to compare against your needs. Confirm the booked category and required accessibility features in writing; a preference noted on a reservation has less certainty than a confirmed room feature.
Build one complete stay total
Start with the final accommodation quote for the same dates, room and party. Add costs that are outside that quote: required fees, taxes, parking or transfers, planned meals and activities. Check each line once so a fee already included in the displayed total is not added twice. Distinguish a refundable security hold from an expected expense.
The Dune House FAQ, checked October 3, lists a $30 nightly destination amenity fee plus tax and $35 overnight parking with additional taxes and service charges. It identifies seasonal beach equipment and bicycles as subject to availability. Treat these as a dated planning snapshot and verify the final rate’s inclusions and cancellation deadline.
Worked example: a lower room rate can cost more
These are invented quotes for two adults over three nights, not Dune House rates. Resort A totals $900 for the room, $120 in required fees, $150 tax, $90 parking and $180 breakfast: $1,440. Resort B quotes $1,260 including room, required fees, tax and breakfast, plus $120 parking: $1,380. With equivalent rooms and cancellation terms, B costs $60 less. Other meals and chosen activities still need the same treatment on both sides.
Turn the comparison into a booking brief
Send the hotel your dates, party, exact room category and three essential features. Ask it to identify any unavailable facilities and confirm the total, deposit and cancellation deadline with its time zone. Keep the response with the booking confirmation. Choose the property whose confirmed experience fits your priorities; remove a resort from consideration when a necessary feature remains unresolved.
