Universal Content Management - Yenra

A single architecture to manage web documents, collaboration, records, and digital assets

Digital Assets

Stellent announced today the release of Stellent Content Management 7.0. With the new version, Stellent provides the only solution supporting each aspect of content management -- document management, Web content management, collaboration, records management and digital asset management -- within a single, common product architecture.

"As content management continues to evolve from a stand-alone application into an infrastructure that integrates with other key business applications, systems based on one uniform, coherent platform will provide companies with the most cost-effective alternative for easily managing and accessing information across the enterprise," said Mark Gilbert, vice president and research director for Gartner.

And, in a September 10, 2003 brief titled, "Will You Choose the Right Content Management Product?" Forrester Research states that content management buyers highlight a range of content management requirements including document management, Web content management and collaboration. A top requirement for these platforms is repository integration. Furthermore, according to the brief, before being sold on a broad suite of functionality, content management buyers should look for consistent and unified repositories, workflow engines, interfaces, and OS and application server support across these product suites.

Stellent Content Server now supports all of Stellent's application modules -- document management, Web content management, records management, collaboration and digital asset management applications -- from a single server and features a new common, graphical user interface (GUI) and common application programming interfaces (APIs). This seamless architecture lowers the total cost of ownership and furthers the product's ease-of-use and flexibility. In addition, version 7.0 includes new, built-in records management capabilities and enhanced document management and imaging functionality.

"With version 7.0, Stellent is the only provider meeting customer requirements for a comprehensive set of content management functionalities in a single architecture with a single user interface," said Dan Ryan, executive vice president of marketing and business development for Stellent. "This release furthers our leadership position, providing customers with the next level of flexibility, ease-of-use, rapid deployment and low total cost of ownership for both line-of-business and enterprise content management deployments."

Version 7.0 leverages Stellent's core content management platform to offer built-in records management functionality that enables users to manage disposition and retention schedules for electronic and physical records. In addition, Stellent Content Management 7.0 will comply with the U.S. DoD 5015.2 standard, which defines the basic requirements that must be met by records management application products acquired by the Department of Defense and its components based on operational, legislative and legal needs.

"Version 7.0 rounds out our Universal Content Management platform with an optional, DoD 5015.2-compliant records management application based on Stellent's content management technology," Ryan said. "By developing our own application versus integrating with a third-party records management product, our customers benefit from an interface and repository that is consistent with the rest of our content management suite. In addition, we plan to offer integrated support for the United Kingdom's Public Records Office (PRO) standard by early next year."

Stellent Content Management 7.0 includes a new, optional, high-volume repository that supports large volumes of content for imaging and digital asset management applications. Version 7.0 also offers workflow support for business processes to enable users to route forms, scanned documents and images through workflows. This functionality is designed to support business applications such as insurance claims processing and call center operations.

Stellent Content Management 7.0 offers the following additional key features and core services enhancements that particularly benefit system administrators and enable companies to more easily scale the solution across their various business units:
