Soup sodium bowl worksheet
Compare two soups at the same amount. Use grams for both weights, or the same volume unit for both volumes. Check whether the label describes concentrate or prepared soup.

Formula and example
Bowl sodium = label sodium × bowl amount ÷ label serving amount.
Add toppings separately. Fictional A: 360 mg per 240 g; a 360 g bowl has 540 mg. Fictional B: 280 mg per 120 g; the same bowl has 840 mg.
FDA’s general sodium Daily Value is 2,300 mg. Use your personally prescribed limit if applicable. Adding water changes concentration; the total sodium in the pot stays the same.
