For her performance opposite Tom Cruise in Cameron Crowe's Jerry Maguire, Renee Zellweger (Betty) was cited by the National Board of Review for Breakthrough Performance 1996 (Female), received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, and won the Blockbuster Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy.
Zellweger earned a literature degree at the University of Texas, where she took her first acting class. Her telefilm appearances include the USA Network's A Taste for Killing and Showtime's Shake, Rattle and Rock! While still in Austin, she made her feature film debut as part of the ensemble in Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused.
Zellweger's performance opposite Vincent D'Onofrio in Dan Ireland's The Whole Wide World garnered her acclaim at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Best Actress Award from the Mar del Plata Film Festival and her second Independent Spirit Award nomination.
Her other film credits include Boaz Yakin's A Price Above Rubies, Carl Franklin's One True Thing (opposite Meryl Streep and William Hurt), and Gary Sinyor's The Bachelor.
Zellweger most recently starred in Peter and Bobby Farrelly's Me, Myself & Irene, opposite Jim Carrey. She will next be seen starring in Sharon Maguire's Bridget Jones' Diary, the film adaptation of Helen Fielding's bestselling book.
