DoD Records Requirements

Officials from the U.S. Department of Defense Joint Interoperability Test Command have just certified that the LaserFiche Records Management Edition complies with recently established federal record management and permanent archiving standards.

The federal compliance certification comes after a week's bench testing and will be made official with the publication of test results in October. The LaserFiche Records Management Edition is a new product to be introduced after completing a final company quality assurance review.

"LaserFiche has long been used for mission-critical records management, not only by the federal government, but also by local governments and businesses needing to protect archives in compliance with various regulations," said Nien-Ling Wacker, LaserFiche president and CEO. "These test results validate the engineering resources and expertise that have always gone into our software."

The federal records management policy defined in DoD 5015.2 STD sets standards for support of all record types -- electronic, physical and e-mail. It also establishes procedures for timely, secure destruction of records within prescribed retention schedules. In addition, it specifies "file plan" organization, regulates access control and defines audit trail methods.

For years, LaserFiche software has been widely used by all branches of the U.S. military and by the Secret Service, CIA, FBI, as well as Departments of State, Justice and Homeland Security. Recently, as increasing regulations have been imposed on businesses, LaserFiche has been chosen for enterprise use in businesses and government agencies to assure compliance.

LaserFiche employs open architecture, non-proprietary images and is widely scalable to make its products affordable and useful to the mainstream government and commercial market.
