Number Portability Expansion

MyRatePlan announced today the re-launch of its Number Portability Information Center in advance of the May 24th expansion of portability regulations from the top 100 metropolitan areas to the remainder of the 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The Portability Information Center contains a wealth of useful information for those looking to change carriers and keep their number, whether this means switching from one wireless provider to another or -- as is becoming increasingly common -- eliminating one's home phone to go totally wireless. The section's Planning Matrix will help consumers take advantage of the rules depending on their current subscriber status, while the Frequently Asked Questions will walk them through what to expect if they are considering a change, including tips to make the process run more smoothly.

"Number Portability has proven to be a big win for cell phone consumers in the nation's 100 largest markets, enabling them to get a better phone and/or calling plan without losing their numbers," said Allan Keiter, President of MyRatePlan. "The porting process is functioning much more smoothly today than at the outset, and this should make things easier for the remaining 38% of the population as they are freed of the restrictions on May 24th."
