A wide range of organizations signed sponsorship deals with the Latin Recording Academy (LARAS) to help promote the 2nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards and its surrounding events, it was announced today by Michael Greene, President/CEO of the Recording Academy and Latin Recording Academy. Those involved in sponsorships include Nokia, Yahoo! en español, Delta Air Lines, Heineken, Dr Pepper, and La Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), the Spain-based association of music publishers and songwriters. Hilton Hotels Corporation is supporting the Latin Grammy Awards by providing hotel accommodations.
Nokia, Yahoo! en español, Delta, Heineken, and Dr Pepper have all signed on to become "Official Latin Grammy Sponsors." The agreements support different aspects of the events surrounding the preeminent Latin music awards show, including the prestigious LARAS Person Of The Year tribute, Silent Auction and Nominee Celebration taking place September 10; and the post-telecast Latin Grammy Celebration.
"The Academy continues to break new ground by developing unique public/ private cultural partnerships," said Greene. "The support of our cultural and corporate sponsors helps us provide educational and philanthropic programs throughout the year to communities across the globe. We truly appreciate the generosity of our new and existing sponsors of all the activities surrounding the 2nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards."
A few of this year's sponsors were key players in the events surrounding the inaugural Latin Grammy Awards. Coming back to join the Latin Recording Academy for a second year, Heineken has signed on as the official beer of the Latin Grammy Awards and Nokia is providing support as the official wireless communication sponsor of the Latin Grammy Awards.
A new partner this year, Yahoo! en español will play a key role as host of the Latin Grammy's Web site. This leading Spanish-language global Internet communications, commerce and media property has joined forces with LARAS as the official online partner for the 2nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards. As part of the agreement, Yahoo! en español is hosting a special site to give fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the event. All content provided on the special site is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese and is featured on five of Yahoo!'s global properties including, Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! en español, Yahoo! Argentina, Yahoo! Brazil, Yahoo! Mexico and Yahoo! Spain.
Also new to the Latin Recording Academy team are Delta Airlines and Dr Pepper. Delta has been selected as the Latin Grammy Awards' official airline and Dr Pepper is the official soft drink of the premier event.
