Plan a Las Vegas wedding as three connected tasks: obtain the marriage license, complete a legal ceremony, and obtain the recorded proof afterward. Then compare venue packages around those requirements, with enough time for travel, documents and any changes.

Confirm the legal plan before making reservations
Decide whether you want a legal marriage, a vow renewal or a symbolic celebration. Tell the venue explicitly: those bookings do not all involve the same documents or legal process.
Clark County's marriage license requirements cover age, identification, existing marital status and prohibited family relationships. For the ordinary adult process, applicants must be at least 18 and currently unmarried. Read the complete requirements before paying a nonrefundable deposit.
Use the names on the identification you will present. The County requires original acceptable identification rather than a phone image or photocopy. Its page explains previous-marriage information and special application circumstances; ask the office if your documents, name or attendance situation need clarification. Nevada marriage records are public, which also matters when choosing how to handle personal information.
Apply, then collect the license together
Follow the Clerk's four-step marriage process. Complete the online application, save the confirmation number, and ordinarily appear together with the required identification to collect the license. Check the spelling and details before leaving.
The County currently lists a $102 license fee, with an additional convenience fee for card payment. There is no waiting period after issuance, and the license is valid for one year. Application submission alone does not complete pickup or the ceremony.
The official locations and hours page lists the main Marriage License Bureau at 201 E. Clark Avenue, open daily from 8 a.m. to midnight, including holidays. License pickup there requires no appointment. Other offices offer different services and schedules, so check the exact location you intend to use.
Book the ceremony as a separate service
The ceremony must take place in Nevada with an authorized Nevada officiant and at least one witness other than the officiant. Bring the paperwork issued with the license. Ask who supplies the witness if you are traveling alone as a couple, and confirm the officiant's authorization and filing arrangements before booking.
For the County's own service, use its civil marriage appointment page. It currently requires an online appointment, a witness brought by the couple, and arrival five minutes early. The listed charge is $75 plus a $2.75 card processing fee, totaling $77.75; it accepts credit or debit cards. Its location at 330 S. 3rd Street is separate from the License Bureau. The Clerk advises obtaining an itemized bill before the vows and explains that solicitors outside the License Bureau work for commercial chapels, rather than its office. Choose a provider from written information and confirmed arrangements.
Allow time for the recorded certificate
The County's proof-of-marriage guidance says the officiant must deliver the completed certificate within ten calendar days. The office then files it within one or two business days of receipt. Once filed, certified copies are available to order. Keep the officiant's contact details and ask how to follow up if the record is delayed.
A decorative keepsake serves a different purpose from the recorded certified copy. Ask the agency that needs proof which document it accepts. The Clerk's process page currently lists certified marriage certificates at $20 per copy; confirm ordering and delivery charges through the official service.
If using the document outside the United States, ask the receiving authority before travel about recognition, translation, apostille or other authentication requirements. The County's proof page links to the Nevada Secretary of State for apostille information. Build time for those steps into your plans instead of assuming paperwork will be complete before your return flight.
Make a short trip workable
- Before booking: resolve eligibility/document questions, compare full packages and confirm the ceremony appointment.
- Before travel: submit the application, save the confirmation and pack original identification securely.
- After arrival: collect and check the license before the ceremony; allow transport and queue time.
- On the day: bring the issued paperwork, witness and confirmed payment arrangements.
- Afterward: track filing, order the required certified copies and complete any receiving-authority requirements.
