This is for the person who wants to know when a "never-fail" prayer will work. I've experienced several things that might help. One is to just talk to God for a few minutes about what's troubling you or what you want very much, as if you were talking to a very good friend. If you're feeling desperate, tell Him. If you're wondering how He could have let something bad happen, tell Him. Ask Him to show you how to pray for it. He will. Another thing, if you're brave, is to ask Him to show you what you're contributing to the situation you want changed. I don't like doing this any better than anyone else does, but I've always found that He is very gentle (and very specific) in showing me what I can do (or stop doing) immediately to start making things better. Finally, you may want to ask Him to show you sins or shortcomings you need to confess. Every time my prayers aren't being answered and I don't know why and I'm feeling really desperate, He's shown me (always very gently) something I really do need to confess. If you ask Him about the unanswered prayer, you'll be amazed at how He will love you and guide you into the answer. God bless you.
