KETTLE BOIL-TIME COMPARISON — YENRA Guide: https://yenra.com/high-speed-tea-kettle/ Prepared: October 11, 2026 Purpose: record the conditions behind a published time or an observation during ordinary kettle use. Follow each model's complete operating instructions. Do not change wiring, bypass controls, insert probes into an operating kettle, or exceed fill limits. Use models rated for the local electrical supply. BEFORE COMPARING (complete for A and B) Exact model and country/market: ___________________________________________ Manual or published test URL: ____________________________________________ Water volume (mL or L; specify units): ____________________________________ Minimum and maximum permitted fills: _____________________________________ Starting water temperature and units, or UNKNOWN: _________________________ Kettle starting condition (cooled/recently heated; scale condition): _______ Location/altitude if known: _______________________________________________ Electrical label: watts ______ voltage ______ frequency ______ Endpoint (e.g. normal automatic shutoff): _________________________________ Keep-warm setting and other active modes: _________________________________ ORDINARY-USE OBSERVATIONS Measure starting water separately before filling, if measuring temperature. Keep the lid secured during operation. Start timing when heating starts. Use the stated visible endpoint; avoid comparing unlike endpoints. Allow normal cooling between observations and follow the manual throughout. Model A: date ______ time 1 ______ time 2 ______ time 3 ______ (seconds) Model B: date ______ time 1 ______ time 2 ______ time 3 ______ (seconds) Differences in conditions or unknowns: ____________________________________ If the conditions differ, keep the observations separate. IDEALIZED CALCULATION — NOT A TESTED KETTLE RESULT Example: 1.0 L water approximated as 1.0 kg; from 20 C toward 100 C; constant power of 1,500 W; water specific heat approximated as 4,186 J/(kg C). Temperature rise = 100 - 20 = 80 C. Q = mass x specific heat x rise = 1.0 x 4,186 x 80 = 334,880 J. Time = energy / power = 334,880 / 1,500 = 223.25 seconds, about 3 min 43 sec. For 0.5 L with the same assumptions: 111.63 seconds, about 1 min 52 sec. Use 0.5 L only if the appliance's minimum fill allows it. Assumptions: all stated power reaches water, no vessel heating or heat loss; 100 C reference endpoint. Local boiling point and control behavior vary. Actual switch-off times depend on the appliance and conditions.
