CD-R Media: Record, Verify and Preserve Your Files Yenra | Updated September 17, 2026 Article: https://yenra.com/cdr-media-review/ OPTICAL DISC COPY AND VERIFICATION RECORD Purpose: document one disc and any copied or newly recorded content. Disc ID and label: Job: audio playback / data delivery / recovery Disc type, drive model, software/version: Source folder or original disc location: Project format and intended receiving device: Files/tracks expected: Burn settings or read method: Copy/burn date and error messages: Files/tracks obtained; missing filenames: Verification method (playback, file comparison, checksum algorithm/tool): Verification result and exceptions: Original-file location: Second checked-copy location: Review date and required software: EXAMPLE: 120 files x 12 decimal MB = 1,440 MB; at least 3 nominal 700 MB discs before allowing for project overhead. Use the burning software to check actual capacity. A successful file hash comparison checks file bytes, not disc lifetime. Record missing files explicitly. Keep original media until recovery and retention decisions are settled.
