Bluetooth Transceivers: Radio Range, Antennas, and Link Budgets Yenra working checklist | September 18, 2026 https://yenra.com/bluetooth-transceiver/ Purpose: Read transmitter power and receiver-sensitivity specifications and understand why a complete installed radio link needs testing. Use with the linked guide and exact product documentation. This is a blank working record; hypothetical examples are labeled and are not measurements of your equipment. Date: __________________________ Equipment/models and OS/firmware: __________________________ Starting task or symptom: __________________________ 1. Record both radios, firmware, PHY/data rate, transmit power, sensitivity criterion, antennas and enclosures. Result / evidence: __________________________ 2. For each direction list transmit power (dBm), both antenna gains (dBi), other loss (dB), path loss assumption (dB), and sensitivity (dBm). Result / evidence: __________________________ 3. Calculate received power = transmit power + TX gain + RX gain - other loss - path loss. Margin = received power - sensitivity. Result / evidence: __________________________ 4. Hypothetical check: 4 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 70 = -73 dBm; margin versus -96 dBm = 23 dB. Another 15 dB loss gives -88 dBm and 8 dB margin. This does not predict distance. Result / evidence: __________________________ 5. Define application success and log placement, orientation, traffic, received/missing records, delay and recovery using the final enclosure. Result / evidence: __________________________ Decision / next action / owner: __________________________ Scope: The link-budget values are hypothetical, not measured specifications. No range or regulatory approval is claimed for a physical design.
