ISOLATED BENCH TEST -- keep the instrument or machine disconnected.
[ ] Confirm the manufacturer's supported loopback wiring for this interface.
[ ] Remove power before fitting the loopback plug; leave power pins untouched.
[ ] Power the adapter and connect the supported host/client.
[ ] Disable local echo. For a supported TX/RX-only test, use no flow control.
[ ] Send and compare a known short payload.
[ ] Power down; remove the loopback; reconnect and confirm the return disappears.

Invented payload BT-TEST-001 is 11 ASCII bytes, or 13 with appended CR LF.
