JVC Company of America announced its new Mini DV camcorder line, with each model offering sleek, elegant styling and multi-functionality. For 2003, JVC offers a full range of camcorder options, from affordable compact models to tiny, sleek micro-pocket models to a stylish new "pro-sumer" models for the most demanding users.

"We offer a model to meet every need, with each one delivering outstanding image quality, versatility, convenience and innovative design."

For superior image quality, all JVC Mini DV camcorders feature a super hi-band processor that restores the high-band components of the luminance signal to ensure a crisp, clear picture. Advanced digital models include a super-sized 1.33 megapixel CCD for stunning 540 lines of horizontal resolution, while entry-level and mid-range camcorders feature a 680k CCD that delivers 520 lines of resolution. JVC's commitment to image quality is further evident in the Mini DV series' ability to capture digital stills with no motion blur.

Step-up models offer a progressive shutter that allows stills to be captured by the entire frame, eliminating the blur that occurs when separate fields are combined to form a frame. In addition, the 1.33 CCD megapixel models can capture 27 percent more visual information than 680k-pixel cameras, providing images of 1280 x 960 pixels, 1024 x 768 pixels and 640 x 480 pixels.

PC- & Disc-Friendly Capability and Connectivity The Advanced Mini DV camcorder series on up offers the capability to create high-quality MPEG-4 video clips from recorded video footage, or in real-time using the camcorder as a Webcam. This allows for computer-based editing, emailing video clips or uploading to Web sites. Select new Mini DV models also allow the user to get creative with sound, supporting the MP3 file format.

For those who want the convenience of disc-based video, select new models are outfitted with USB MPEG-1 real-time streaming and authoring software for using a CD burner to easily create a Video CD that will play in DVD player utilizing existing PC environments. (USB connection, CD burner)

Throughout JVC's 2003 Line-up, the Mini DV camcorders are designed with the PC and Internet in mind, offering multiple PC connection options, including MMC/SD Memory card, USB cable, i.Link (IEEE1394) DV cable and analog input.

Included Hi-value software packages with cables offer consumers a complete camcorder to PC solution. From the compact series with removable media on up, each camcorder includes New Soft's ImageFolio and Mr.Photo 3. Advanced models on up will include ImageMixer software for mutli-funtcionality included creation of Video CD's that play in most DVD players.

JVC's new Mini DV camcorders are offered in five distinct, full-featured styles: Compact, Advanced, Pocket, Micro Pocket and Pro-sumer.
